The Problem with AI

WRITTEN ALL OVER ITS ‘FACE’ - AI’s Rapidly Developing Fatal Flaw

As you may already know, the subject of AI has become very divisive recently.

As artificial intelligence continues to advance itself into varies sectors, it presents both significant benefits and notable drawbacks. On one hand, AI enhances efficiency and productivity, automating routine tasks and enabling faster data analysis, which can lead to innovative solutions in fields like healthcare, finance, and transportation. However, these advancements raise concerns about job displacement and ethical implications, as machines may replace human roles and perpetuate biases in decision-making processes. There's is also the topic of AI In education, where teachers and students are in an arms race to try and overtake each other in detection of AI assistance in Schoolwork. Furthermore, the reliance on AI systems poses risks regarding data privacy and security, prompting a critical dialogue on the balance between technological progress and the societal consequences that accompany it.

What you may not know, however, is that the paragraph you just read was written entirely by AI. Maybe you spotted it, maybe you had no idea; regardless, AI is learning, advancing, and changing every day at an exponential pace and we don't know how far it will go. Maybe this is the limit - a semi-accurate piece of code that lists Google answers? Or, maybe, it continues to advance, eventually reaching the event horizon. This is the point at which it becomes self-aware, with unknown potential moving into the future. The truth is, nobody knows how AI will advance, but what we do know is that AI will soon face a major problem of its own; Inbreeding.

When a question is asked, an AI uses all available information on the internet to efficiently find the best, most specific answer to the request. However, as more and more AI generated information is pumped into the internet, the more AI will use it to answer new questions; it begins to feed off of its own creations. This could happen until either specific AI detection code is put in place to stop sourcing from robots, or until sites like ChatGPT are nearly unusable, creating a form of Habsburg jaw that may not be fixable.

Overall, whilst having the ability to ask AI may at first have been a useful tool for multiple scenarios, if left unchecked, it could lead to it be a truly incomprehensible piece of technology.
