This is our (mostly) spoiler-free review of all our favourite musicals of stage and screen!
Wicked
The West End musical “Wicked” has seen a massive uprising as it becomes more “popular” due to the recent film adaptation! The musical is about two young girls who attended a school called “Shiz”. One girl (Galinda) has a strong personality, is independent and loves makeovers! The other (Elphaba) is green of skin, has magic powers and is very ambitious. The pair get roomed together when first arriving at Shiz and at first despise one another, so naturally, they sing about it. But they soon put aside their differences and realise that opposites attract - or, in their words, “Pink goes good with green”. They start adventuring with each other and meet “The Wizard Of Oz”.
Hamilton
The West End musical “Hamilton” follows the non fictional story of the historical figure Alexander Hamilton, who was a founding father of America. The first part of the play is the story of America revolutionising for freedom against Britain. America won the war and this made Alexander Hamilton’s passion - and the dreams of Act One - a reality.
La La Land
La La Land is a musical that has won six academy awards, including: best actress, best director and best original song. The movie features Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The story of La La Land follows a man (Sebastian) and a woman (Mia) who fall in love. They are both trying to pursue their dreams; Sebastian wants to be a jazz singer and own his own jazz club, whilst Mia wants to be an actor in the movies. They both live with each other for a year until they realise that to be able to follow their dreams they can’t be together. You will have to see the movie to see what happens!
