As December fast approaches, the Performing Arts department are deep in the midst of their rehearsals for this year’s production of Oliver! So far, the actors and band members have been rehearsing separately, so we interviewed Mr Sarjeant (Head of Performing Arts) on how the band practice sessions have been going, which you can find in our Oliver! feature.
The band rehearses every Monday and Wednesday after school, learning quite advanced pieces. They have been progressing impressively, even despite the minor setbacks of certain Sixth Form members not being 100% committed when rehearsals began (listen to the interview below for more on this!)
The band consists of instruments such as the flute, clarinet, cello, bass guitar, piano, percussion, drum kit and more. There is quite a difference in age, with the oldest members being the music teachers, and ranging down to some Year 9 members.
Overall, we can assume that the rehearsals for the Oliver! band are going very well, with measurable progress being made every week.
Oliver! performances are scheduled for the evenings of the 4th, 5th, and 6th of December. Tickets will be made available soon, and can be purchased through ParentPay.
